ABOUT
Hi, I’m Whitney Goens, a Master of Library and Information Science student at Old Dominion University and an aspiring elementary school librarian. I earned my bachelor’s degree in psychology from Liberty University, and I’m drawn to the ways stories, creativity, and meaningful connections help children learn and grow. As a mother and children’s book author, I care about helping children feel seen, understood, and encouraged to be themselves. I hope to create a library where students can discover a favorite story, ask unexpected questions, and explore ideas with confidence. My professional interests include children’s literature, inclusive library services, digital literacy, and collaborating with teachers to make learning engaging and accessible. Outside of my studies, I enjoy writing stories, spending time with my family, and bringing a little whimsy into everyday life. This portfolio brings together my coursework, projects, and reflections as I develop my own approach to school librarianship—one rooted in curiosity, compassion, and imagination.
